When life gives you snow, make snow ice cream.

I may be in sunny California at this moment, but I know that if I were back in Brooklyn — or in any of the other places being lashed by the snowstorms bearing down on much of the country — I’d be on the lookout for more snow day activities with the kids. Making snow ice cream is on the top of my list.

You can find a basic recipe for how to make snow ice cream on my site, One Hungry Mama. It’s just snow, cream, sugar and vanilla. Add chocolate sauce or berries if you want to riff. You only have to go out in the cold long enough to collect a bunch of snow

This is one treat the kids will definitely remember — and I bet they’ll even make it with their own kids someday.
