While I’d love to buy a ton of things at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, I try to be smart about it. That means besides one or two things I’ve had my eye on, I stick with items that I already love and need refreshing.
Especially when they’re the kinds of things I would normally buy full price. I mean, saving 25-50% on something I buy anyway is smart shopping!
So use these recommendations as inspiration, save a little (or a lot) of money, and take advantage of the remaining weeks of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale! It ends August 6.
3 things worth buying at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

1 New Bras to Replace the Gross Old Bras
Lisa and I were talking and came to the sad, sad conclusion that tan bras last a year, if you’re lucky. I mean they may last longer, but they start to go dingy. Also they stretch. If you wear a bra frequently–especially if you’re on the fuller side like me–it’s a sad fact, but that bra is probably no longer doing the job it was meant to do.
Take advantage of the sale and freshen up your bras. Here are some recos:
The workhorse bra: Natori Rose Dream Custom Coverage Underwire Bra
Give us this day our daily bra. And for me, that would be the Natori Rose Dream Custom Coverage Underwire Bra. It’s the perfect under-t-shirt bra with the right amount of nipple coverage, and supports even my DDs with great fortitude. I get new ones every year as they wear out, which is not often…but often enough that I’ll snatch them up every time why size is on sale. (Nearly 40% off in 4 good natural colors
The prettier but still hardworking bra: The Natori Feathers Underwire Contour Bra
The Natori Features Underwire Contour Bra is so gorgeous, supportive, and still pretty. I recommend it all the time — including in our 5 cool picks weekly emails — and judging from our readers, you all love this one too. Order a cup size up. (Nearly 40% off in 5 beautiful colors.)
The so comfy you can sleep in it bralette: The Natori Bliss Perfection Contour Soft Cup Bralette
Lisa made me promise to include her own favorite, also from Natori, which she says gives more support than you’d think, and is so comfy you forget you’re wearing it. If’ you’re looking for an underwire alternative, The Natori Bliss Perfection Contour Soft Cup Bralette comes highly recommended. (35% off in two colors)
2 New Underwear to Replace…(okay, we’ll leave it at that)
When you need to freshen up your underwear drawer–and you probably should because at a certain point, how many “back-up underwear” options do you actually need?–be sure to do it when your favorite brand goes on sale.
As for me, I am a devoted Hanky Panky gal. Nordstrom comes through for me every summer at their sale and I’m a fan of the cotton and stretch lace original rise thong which eliminates VPL beautifully; or the low rise thong is great if you’re committed to pants that come up to your hips. (up to 35% off)
Shown above: The holiday 5-pack. What makes them “holiday?” No freaking idea. But nice colors!
3. The Cosmetics You Already Love
I know that feeling of falling in love with a product, and then they go and discontinue it or mess up the formula (looking at you, Thrive CC Cream, grrrr). Or, it gets super popular and next thing you know, it’s tough to find. So I’ve learned to buy my favorites x2 when they’re on sale at Nordstrom. Or anywhere TBH.
Here are my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale cosmetics department:
The best ever mascara: Chantecaille Faux Cils mascara
I have written a lot about mascara over the years, especially for my short lashes. At this point, I can safely say there is no better mascara than Chantecaille Faux Cils mascara. Before you gasp at the price–it goes on perfectly without clumping, conditions my lashes, and really makes them look full and loooong…but natural. (Bonus: it smells like roses, not wax.) My makeup-obsessed daughter even asked me, wide-eyed, what I had done with my lashes. It’s definitely expensive, so I wait for the sale when I can get a two-pack for 33% off.
The perfect blush: Orgasm by NARS
I was first introduced to the Nars Orgasm-Laguna blush duo by a Sephora artist when we were doing a program with the brand, and I’ve been hooked ever since. The problem: It sells out. Always. My other problem is that I go through that perfect peachy-pink faster than the bronzer each time. Solution: Buying NARS Orgasm Blush on its own, especially when it’s on sale as a two-set exclusive to Nordstrom. ($20/ea on sale down from $32)
PS If you want to try it first, they do offer a $17 mini, but it’s not on sale. Trust me on the full-size. Besides, Nordstrom has a great return policy.
The Best-Smelling Shower Treat: Kiehl’s Grapefruit Body Wash
I’ve fallen back in love with Kiehl’s grapefruit body lotion, which is not on sale, unfortunately. So as a treat for myself (and incentive to get in the shower on hybrid work-from-home days, ha), I’m indulging in Kiehl’s Grapefruit Body Wash. The refills for your body wash pump are not just affordable–an $80 value reduced to $56 reduced to $37.50 for the anniversary sale–they’re an eco-friendlier alternative to a new bottle every few months. Plus it lasts a super long time; especially if you tell your kids hands-off.
