Handmade travel bags and accessories that get you more excited for travel.

I have an obsession with toiletry bags and dopp kits. As in, I believe that you can’t have too many for travel. I use them for my many cords and adapters, for wayward pens and a small notepad, for toiletries of course, and even for underthings–tuck a little lavender sachet in one and fight that not-so-fresh feeling on the road. Ha. So I got all happy finding the beautiful handmade travel bags and pouches from Hallie Gray that we’re carrying at our indie shop through GREAT.LY. Clockwise: Tribal Stripe Toiletry Bag, Zip Pouch Travel Bag , Raspberry Toiletry Travel Bag, Moshi Toiletry Travel Bag They’re all...

Yellow Tail Sangria: The taste of spain without all that fruit chopping

I am definitely a sangria gal in the summer–or whenever tapas is around–and while I am dying to make all of Stacie’s recos for great skinny sangria recipes, I’ve gotta admit, I’m lazy. Unless I’m entertaining a group of friends, I’m probably not going to take the time to cut up all that fruit and look for the right brandy blah blah. That said, I’m fairly skeptical about anything pre-made in a bottle. And yet Yellow Tail Sangria? I have to say, surprisingly tasty! I was worried that it would either have that sickly, oversweet taste like a bad wine cooler from...

Pretty leather summer totes, now made in the U.S.A.

It’s no secret that I’ve got an obsession with bags, so when I saw these leather summer totes from CMP fave Ellington (so pretty!) the only question in my mind was which color to get.   I really love that Ellington took their popular classic totes and went back to figure out how they could be made in the U.S.A., which is really something extra special these days. And the colors are amazing. I’m immediately drawn to the turquoise, but the bright red is definitely an eyecatcher. Take a peek at the other more subtle color swatches if you prefer your shades a little more neutral....

12 favorite sloth picks to kick off Sloth Week. Yes, that’s a thing now.

They aren’t as sly as a fox, as wise as an owl, or as puffy as a hedgehog, but the unassuming sloth is poised to be the next big thing for kids, as Liz and I noticed as we toured Toy Fair earlier this year. These slow-moving, surprisingly adorable creatures even have their own week dedicated to them, with Sloth Week 2014 beginning today, June 20 so you and the kids can view online videos and sloth-related TV programming on Animal Planet all week long. (Kind of the kinder, gentler alternative to Shark Week.) If you too want to surround yourself or your kids with all things sloth,...

It’s World Cup time, and this new soccer book for kids is a winner.

Everyone’s eyes are on World Cup soccer for the next month, and The Soccer Fence by Phil Bildner, a thought-provoking and hope-filled soccer book for kids set in the waning days of South African Apartheid, is perfect for reading breaks between games. The book tells the story of Hector, a soccer-loving young Black child living in a Johannesburg township. When he travels to the wealthier “whites only” sections with his mother, he notices the stark difference between his neighborhood’s dirt-and-gravel makeshift soccer fields and the white kids’ lush green lawns. He also sadly notices how he is ignored and not invited to play by...

Sponsored Post: Generation Grit retro-inspired action figures that come from history, not cartoons

This is a sponsored message from Generation Grit Mom of four, Laura Hale, was looking for action figures for her sons that would offer some of the wholesome, creative play accompanied by thoughtful storybooks that so many girls had already discovered with their own line of popular dolls. That’s why she set out to design Generation Grit, a new line of retro-inspired action figures, which has just launched a Kickstarter campaign. Pucker up, natural remedy fans: Urban Moonshine is bringing back digestive bitters.

Owners of a grumbly tummy or troublesome digestion, I have good news. There’s a new old-fashioned weapon in your arsenal, and it’s all-natural and even helps me be more aware of what I’m eating. Whether you fight bloating, crave sugar, or just ate too darn much, Digestive Bitters might help you as much as they’re helping me. The company is called Urban Moonshine, and the idea is that the human body craves bitter flavors but is often denied them by today’s diet. Digestive Bitters come in three flavors: Original, Maple, and Citrus, all based on organic roots and herbs...
