Custom family tote ($48, K Studio Home)
We first shared K Studio home back in 2010 (whoa) for their custom family pillows, and we love that their collection has grown to include these very cool totes. Definitely more subtle than a photographic bag, and almost guaranteed to be more personal than whatever she’s using now for books, beach towels, or groceries. Plus you can add up to 8 humans and 4 pets — perfect for the matriarch of the family.
Photo book with your child’s artwork ($17.99+, Artifact Uprising)
Custom photo albums are always thoughtful, but consider adding a personal touch by creating a cover using your child’s artwork. You can even create an entire book of artwork, if you know it’s something she truly values. Bonus: If anyone ever gets caught sneaking some kindergarten drawing into the garbage years later, you can promise it’s still preserved. Not that we’d know about such things.

Gift box of personalized macarons ($14.95/5 at Swallow My Words, or $42/15)
If this isn’t the most awesome personalized gift under $15, we don’t know what is. Then again, we don’t know if we could narrow down the selection to just a five, so we might have to go with the beautifully packaged box of 15. Choose from more exotic flavors like jasmine tea, key lime, lavender, dark chocolate peppermint and rose lemon caramel– or stick with coffee, pistachio, and blueberry. It’s kind of hard to go wrong. Then just specify how you’d like to personalize them in 25 characters or less and…yum.

Personalized Goyard Bag ($many moneys, Goyard Boutiques)
If you have a mom in mind who is in need of some extra-special, super duper, huge appreciation this year, and you’re willing to splurge, ooh. Lucky her. Just call or visit a Goyard Boutique and order her a custom monogrammed bag. They’re arguably The It Bag, and personalizing it only makes it that more It. If there is such a thing.
Custom iPhone case from a family portrait ($65+ for a digital print, plus $30 for the case, My Little Buffalo)
If you want a really modern family portrait, we tracked down lots of cool ideas a few months back. But new to us is the wonderful work of Lisa Nelson of My Little Buffalo. She’ll create a personalized portrait just for you, then print it right on an iPhone case. Which is such a cool way for her to show off photos of her family on the other side of her phone, too. Just be sure to order ASAP!

Necklace from a child’s handwriting ($55, Emily J. Design)
How wonderful is it to have a child create a special message for a mom or grandma, then have it turned into a special keepsake? We’ve featured lots of cool companies that can do this and a new one to us is Emily J Design, which offers beautiful work at really affordable prices.
Custom laptop sleeve ($58+, Snupped)
Choose her device of choice, upload your favorite photo or two, and in 5-8 days you’ll have a very cool personalized laptop sleeve or tablet case. Super cool personalized gift for a mom who wants to wear her heart on her sleeve. (Ha! Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
Personalized stationery ($85/25 notes, Rifle Paper Co)
We so love the designs from Anna Bond of Rifle Paper, and while we see a lot of knock-offs of her trademark floral illustrations, there’s nothing as beautiful as the original. If you know a mom who’s big on hand-written correspondence (it still exists!), she’ll love a really gorgeous set of stationery personalized just for her. Change the color of the type, the font, even use a monogram instead of a name. The results are always gorgeous.

Personalized family photo print ($29+ framed, Minted)
This lovely custom photo print designed by Christine Ekstrom is sweetly called, Where Life Begins. Upload five of your favorite photos to make it your own. We think it would be an especially cool, affordable gift to a Grandma from “the whole family.” Especially when each family or grandchild gets their own letter.

We went wild when we discovered these custom engraved bamboo cutting boards, personalized with a family recipe just as it appears on the actual page or recipe card. If you have a mom or grandma who values some of your family recipes as much as we do, you can imagine just how perfect this is. And the price is terrific.
Custom family peg doll set ($130 for family of 3, add $40 for personalized frame, Goose Grease)
Look closely at the details and exquisite craftsmanship of these custom peg dolls from Brooklyn makers Goose Grease, and you’ll know why we’re so in love with them. They’re not cheap, but wow, the work that goes into these heirloom quality dolls is amazing. You can even add an awesome frame.
Or hey, if think you have the chops (which we decidedly don’t) we also sell a DIY family peg doll kit in our own shop for just $35 (with free shipping!) Grab the tiny paintbrush and have at it.
